The “Upper Perkiomen Valley Regional Transportation Study Area Roadway Sufficiency Analysis and Capital Improvements Plan” was completed by Pennoni in 2007. The study included project descriptions and cost estimates for twelve key intersections in the Region and addressed intersection deficiencies that should be addressed to accommodate future travel demand.
Several transportation improvement projects have been completed since this study was released, including:
- Traffic signal at 11th Street and Route 29 in Pennsburg Borough
- Traffic signal at the intersection of Routes 29 and 63 in Green Lane Borough
- The Upper Perkiomen Coaster, a municipal shuttle service operated by the Paternship TMA (PTMA) serving the Boroughs of Red Hill, Pennsburg, and East Greenville, began operation in 2009. Update: As of July 2012, Upper Perkiomen Coaster service has been suspended. According to PTMA, recent cuts at the state and county levels have made continued operations difficult. Please contact the Mobility Hotline toll-free at 1-866-507-4857 or e-mail info@ptma-mc.org for other transportation options or for more information on this decision.
